Former La Salle Green Archer Maui Roca died early Friday morning due to complications from diabetes.

Roca played for La Salle from 1994 to 1998 and was part of the team that won the UAAP Season 61 Men’s Championship against Far Eastern University.
Roca also had a brief stint with the Batangas Blades at the defunct MBA from 1999 to 2000.
He was also a member of the 2001 PBA draft, selected. 32 (fourth round) by Tanduay, but never played in a league.
Roca had been posting pictures of him being held in the hospital since late December until his death.
Shortly after learning of Roca’s death, former teammates and coaches offered their condolences and messages to Roca and his family.
He’s soft-spoken and polite,” said coach Jong Uichico, who handled Roca during his two-year stint with the Green Archers in the mid-’90s.
“One of the best and happiest teammates we’ve had,” added Paolo Trillo, a former LaSalle player and current Meralco assistant coach.
