Chesapeake Police Department officer Leo Kosinski told reporters at the scene they found “multiple fatalities and multiple injured parties” at the scene.

Virginia senator Louise Lucas, who represents Virginia’s 18th Senate district which includes Chesapeake, stated that she was “heartbroken that America’s latest mass shooting took place in a Walmart in my district,” before calling for solutions to gun violence in the United States.
