The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of their own. Deputy Alex Spencer died Saturday in what the sheriff said was a tragic accident.
Yesterday we lost Deputy Alex Spencer Unit SO-04. Alex joined our family in March of 2021. He was to graduate the Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy on February 3rd 2022. Alex excelled at the academy and was so excited to be finishing and getting out on his own serving and protecting the citizens of Morgan County. Just Friday we were planning his schedule and talking about days off. He even volunteered to work Saturday if I wanted him to because he knew we had been busy.
We were just as excited to get him home as he was to be coming home.
Our hearts are broken at the Sheriff’s Office but I ask that everyone please lift Brittany, the boys and all of Alex’s family up in your prayers. Their loss is just unimaginable.
We never know how quick a tragic accident can change lives for ever.
Rest easy SO4. We will take it from here.
Deputy Spencer joined the department in March. He is due to graduate from the Criminal Justice Training Institute next month.
“Alex has done an excellent job at the academy and is excited to finish and leave on his own to serve and protect the citizens of Morgan County,” said Sheriff Greg Motley. “Having him come home is as exciting as he is coming home.”
The sheriff asked everyone to hold up Deputy Spencer’s family in prayer during their unimaginable loss.
