Damien Sanderson: Saskatchewan stabber who went on killing spree with brother found dead in reserve #RCMPSK

Police suspect said that Damien’s injuries were not self inflicted while his brother Myles remains on the run and may have sustained injuries

 

One of the Sanderson brothers, Damien, 31, who went on a stabbing spree in Canada on Sunday, September 4, and killed 10 people, has been found dead in the James Smith Cree Nation on Monday, September 5. Rhonda Blackmore, commanding officer of the Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police, announced the news at a news conference.

 

Police suspect that Myles remains on the run and believe he “may have sustained injuries” and could be seeking medical attention. The officers further stated that  Sanderson’s injuries were not believed to be self-inflicted.

According to DailyMail, the attacks were among the deadliest in Canada’s modern history. While some of the victims appeared to have been targeted, others were apparently random. A dangerous person alert has been issued by the officials. RCMP Saskatchewan tweeted, “1/2 Update for Dangerous Person Alert issued by Melfort RCMP: Damien Sanderson has been located deceased. #RCMPSK continues to search for Myles Sanderson, who is 6 foot one inch and 240 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He may be injured and seek medical attention.” In another tweet, the officials stated, “2/2 Instructions: The public should take appropriate precautions. Do not approach suspicious persons and report any information to your local police and emergencies to 911. ^km.”

The brothers were described as armed and dangerous and are the chief suspects in attacks on 29 people in 13 different locations. Myles who was charged with three counts of murder in the first degree, one count of attempted murder, and one count of breaking and entering has been wanted since May as he stopped going to court-mandated visits with his parole officer. Later, he disappeared while out on parole on a five-year sentence for assault, robbery, mischief, and making threats. The search for Myles has expanded from Saskatchewan to neighboring provinces, including Manitoba and Alberta.

 

Sanderson was previously charged with one count of murder in the first degree, one count of attempted murder, and one count of breaking and entering. “We know. We are confident that someone out there knows the whereabouts of these two and has information that would be valuable to the police,’ said Bray in the press conference. “I urge you to get in touch with your local police service.” He further urged Regina residents to shelter in their homes.
