Dave Frishberg is dead, Rock songwriter and musician – Obituary – cause of death

Grammy nominated jazz musicians and Schoolhouse Rock! Composer Dave Frishberg-who wrote the classic “I’m Just Bill” tune for this beloved children’s show-has passed away at the age of 88.

Frishberg’s wife April Magnusson confirmed to The New York Times on Thursday that the talented singer died in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday.

In 1962, before he succeeded in telling the witty story of a particular brand through songs, he composed his first published song “Peel Me a Grape”. Later, he moved to Los Angeles in 1971 and began to produce a short-lived NBC variety show, the funny side, starring Gene Kelly, a total of nine episodes.

Although his career has spanned multiple styles and mature lyrics, he is probably best known for his regular contributions to ABC’s long-time Saturday morning cartoon schoolhouse rock! The third season of the show: “I’m Just a Bill”, which explains the US legislative process through the accompaniment of trumpeter Jack Shelton.

After succeeding on the show throughout the 1970s, he released The Dave Frishberg Songbook, volume 1 was a huge success, and was nominated for a Grammy in 1982, and then he was nominated for volume 2. He will continue to write two more Grammy nominated albums: Live at Vine Street in 1985 and Can’t Take You Nowhere in 1987.
