The club took to Twitter to share his sudden passing. It was stated that their longtime friend Mickie Jay Henson has died at the age of 59-year-old. The club sent their sincerest condolences to Mickie’s family and family and expressed their sadness on the loss of another family member from the wrestling world. Who Was Mickie Henson?
Born in 1963, Mickie Henson was an American professional wrestling referee who was popularly known for his time with World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment from 1992-2001, and 2005-2009 respectively. In the early 1990s, Mickie was an enhancement talent on World Wrestling Federation television. With the support of Mike Graham, Gordon Solie, and Steve Keirn, Henson broke into the business. Fro Championship Wrestling from Florida, the 59-year-old referred his first match in 1987.
Mickie had stated that his first match was at the Eddie Graham Sports Complex in Orlando which has been turned into apartment buildings now. He added that the first match took place between Mike Awesome and Bob Cook and said that he was not that nervous about it. Mickie further said that he was fortunate enough to learn from some of the best workers like Mike Graham and Dick Skater. So, from 1992, Henson began refereeing in WCW.
Further, Mickie Henson was signed by WWE in 2005 where he placed on the Raw brand officiating matches including wrestler Kurt Angle, John Cena, and more. Mickie remained associated with the Raw matches for nine months. He debuted for ECW brand on July 18 where he officiated a match between The Sandman and Mike Knox. Later, in 2007, Henson moved to SmackDown. He has won several awards in his career. Mickie Henson lived for about 16 years in Key West in Florida and was fond of going fishing.
