‘A Journal for Jordan’ is based on a true story.
Following the real-life events that happened to late First Sergeant Charles Monroe King, wife Dana Canedy retold his story by publishing a memoir, which the movie is adapted from.
King died in Baghdad in 2006, leaving his fiancée and infant behind. At the time, Canedy was a senior editor for The New York Times and decided to share snippets from the 200-page journal that King had kept for his son Jordan.
The memoir pulled at the public’s heartstrings, with many relating to the feeling of loss.
