JD Crowe Bluegrass Music Legend Dies at 84 Check His Cause of Death


The Bluegrass legend, JD Crowe, has died on Friday, December 24, 2021. The unfortunate news was shared by Kentucky County Music on Christmas eve as they took to their social media page. Later, one of the children of Crowe also confirmed his passing. On the official fan page of the banjo player, a post was shared. They wrote that this morning at 3 AM, they lost their father, and added that he went home. The post continued as they asked the prayers from everyone to go through the difficult time.

Ever since the saddening news was announced, JD Crowe’s fans started expressing their grief over his sudden demise. Besides, other artists also paid the legend a tribute on social media. However, it has not been revealed what was his cause of death.

Although it is coming forward that Crowe was admitted to the hospital in late November. According to Bluegrass Today, the banjo player was also in a rehab centre. On December 20, the musician was supposed to be discharged. As per Crowe’s fan page, the 84-year-old passed away at the medical facility. The statement hints that he might have been suffering from some health complications which he must have faced during his hospitalization.

The accurate cause of death is not disclosed yet as neither his family nor his friends have come forward and have spoken about it. JD Crowe’s sudden death has left the industry in shock. Multiple tweets are coming forward from his industry as his fans are remembering him for his exceptional work in the field and his altogether impact in the Bluegrass musical genre. Talking about American musician, J.D. Crowe, he was born on August 27, 1937, in the United States. He was a renowned banjo player along with the band leader of Bluegrass since 1971.

In 1954, he was proposed a job with Jimmy Martin’s Sunny Mountain Boys. Later, he formed his own band titled “Kentucky Mountain Boys”. The group mainly performed in the Lexington area. Crowe changed his band name in 1971 to “The New South”. He was honoured with the Bluegrass Star Award on October 15, 2011.
