Kirk Sampson of Auburn University posted on Twitter to mourn and commemorate the late sports broadcaster and editor.
In Sampson’s tweet, he posted photos of Meredith Jenkins, Charles Hollis and Cecil Hurt who were declared dead earlier this week.
Since August 13, 2018, Meredith Jenkins has served as associate director of sports at Fresno State University.
Jenkins will provide leadership commensurate with the traditional deputy sports director. She will also oversee and lead the management responsibilities of Fresno State Sports’ internal departments. In addition, Jenkins will coordinate university governance within the department.
Prior to Fresno State University, Jenkins served as an executive assistant track and field director/senior female administrator for the Tigers at Auburn University. As a member of the executive leadership team, she led the department’s strategic planning and management work, including overseeing the $140 million budget.
Jenkins also chaired the Sports Management Committee, which established best practices and procedures in Auburn. She has also served on the NCAA Football Committee, including the two-term chairman of 2011-12, multiple SEC committees including the executive committee, and won the Auburn University Outstanding Women Award in 2010.
