Almost a century after Shackleton’s death, his prominent ship was found 3,008 meters beneath the surface of the Weddell Sea. The ship was discovered within the defined search area of the expedition team, approximately 4 miles south of the position originally captured by Captain Worsley. The team has worked with the South African polar research and logistics vessel, S.A. Agulhas II, which is owned by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and Environment and is commanded by Mast, Capt. Knowledge Bengu. The team used a Sabertooth hybrid of Saab underwater search vehicles.

The wreckage is protected as a Historic Site and Monument under the Antarctic. Although, it can be filmed and surveyed as seen in the 4k video below. There are several photos and videos that have been going viral on social media. In the pictures, you can still see the name of the ship and its several components. Endurance22 has performed detailed imaging, including 3d scanning of the ship. There are many other signs that prove the ship is the same that was crushed by ice in the year 1915.
