VIDEO: Corvette Plant Fire After EF-2 Tornado Strikes Bowling Green Overnight


The last night, an EF-2 tornado struck the Bowling Green area which has caused massive damage throughout south-central Kentucky and multiple fatalities which have been reported, it seems people the netizens on the internet are still trying to find out the impact of the storm on the Corvette plant and here is what we know so far. There have been multiple sources that reported fire on the roof of the Corvette Assembly Plant, we tried to reach out to Corvette Plant’s Rachel Bagshaw who provided us with an official statement, this happened at 5:00 pm on 11th December in which they conformed about the Plant which is going to be shut down for at least a week dating to 13th December.

It can be confirmed by us that the fire took place as a result of the tornado activity at the Bowling Green Assembly plant early Saturday in the morning dating to 11th December who has caused damage to the facility which includes the roof and an employee entrance. They stated that maintaining a safe work environment for plant employees is the top priority, they stated that they are canceling the production on the first and second shifts, their trained teams work to get tooling, equipment, and the facility space up to standard. At this point in time, we have no updates or damage reports on completed vehicles stored behind the Assembly Plant.

Julie Dolan who is a WNKY reported has Tweeted, “WNKY Television News 40 has confirmed that the Bowling Green Assembly (Corvette Plant) was impacted by a fire early this morning” and shared this photo. There is a video which is going around by David Schutt who was driving by the plant in the early morning hours and he captured this dramatic frame of flames on the roof of the plant with emergency vehicles.


The NCM Motorsports Park is also closed today with the following statement attributed to them, “It is with great disappointment that we announce the suspension of all activities at the NCM Motorsports Park. This includes all Touring Laps/Experience, Twinkle at the Track, and then Run, Run Rudolph 5k. Like many businesses in our community, the NCM Motorsports Park sustained heavy damage from the overnight weather event, making it temporarily unsafe to welcome guests. The MSP team is working to evaluate the damage caused by the storms and to develop a plan for repairs and reopening. We will continue to update our website and social media channels with the latest information.”
