Young people are flocking to movie theaters to watch new 2022 movies in a rather bizarre way. More than a decade has passed since Despicable Me was originally released, and members of Gen Z, the original target of the series, appeared in full costume on New Origins as part of Minions: The Rise of Gru In the movie, it’s a viral TikTok trend. Despite Universal’s response, some theaters were not happy.
The Minions franchise spans most of Gen Z’s childhood, and many young adults of that age are present in Minions: The Rise of Gru in style. Universal Pictures is excited about this interesting development for good reason. Minions: The Rise of Gru was a hit at the box office, and while the film was aimed at children (and, interestingly, fans of The Office), it also spoiled previous kids.
