Who Is Andrew Peery? Cause Of Death? What Happened?: The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) said a deputy sheriff was shot and killed Sunday night while responding to the shooting. ESPO has issued a shelter-in-place order for a community near Ponderosa Drive and Grand Boulevard. The sheriff’s office is actively looking for John Paz, 33, the Hispanic male suspect in the shooting.

SWAT Special Agent Andrew Peery was killed in the shooting, according to EPSO Sheriff Bill Elder. EPSO says he is a married father of two children. When Paz allegedly exchanged fire with the deputy, Perry, another deputy and a Fountain police officer responded to the call with gunshots, Elder said.
Elder did not say if anyone else was injured in the first shot, but said EPSO would release a photo of Paz soon.
Previous report: EPSO has confirmed on social media this was in response to the shooting. EPSO reports on enforcement activity in the area and asks people living in the area to stay indoors. EPSO requires residents to lock all doors and windows for their own safety. KRDO has staff on site and is working to get more information.
