One person has been killed and another injured after a daytime shooting in Whistler Village near a cable car. CFSEU-BC has confirmed it has consulted with the Integrated Homicide Squad.
A police incident in Whistler Village resulted in the shooting. A person called CityNews about 12:30 p.m. to say he heard multiple gunshots near the cabin.
Reports say at least two people were shot, but the RCMP have not confirmed any details. Pictures shared online showed the two apparently wounded by gunfire. Businesses and hotels in the village are reportedly under lockdown.
The resort community has confirmed the ongoing incident and informed people that the Fitzsimmons Express and Whistler Village Gondola have been stopped. CityNews has contacted police and BC Emergency Health Services for more information. Phone calls to nearby hotels went unanswered. Last year, in Whistler, a Brother Guardian thug was killed after being hit at a target in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour, resulting in two arrests.
BK member Meninder Dhaliwal, 29, was dating a friend named Sat Gill who was not involved in the gang at the time of the shooting outside a busy hotel.
Dhaliwal died at the scene, while Gill succumbed to his injuries at the local medical center.
Sea to Sky RCMP Insp. Robert Dykstra said he “has no doubts in the work of our investigators and there is no risk to community safety.”
Dhaliwal’s brother Harb was shot and killed in Coal Harbour on April 17, 2021.
Shortly after the noon shooting, a horrific video of Dhaliwal and Gill lying face down in a pool of blood began circulating. The video also shows a car being pulled over by police shortly after near Squamish.
Scott Cargo, an employee at nearby Fanatyk Co. Ski and Cycle, said he was standing outside the store when he heard gunfire.
