Born in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Jay DaYoungun began his rap career at 18 and dropped out of high school to pursue music.
Jay Da Youngan was released after serving about seven months in prison on gun charges, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The 24-year-old rapper – whose real name is Javorius Scott – was sentenced Thursday (June 16) by U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance to one year in prison, one year of supervised release, a $5,500 fine and mandatory Special exam fee of $100. Jay DaYoungan pleaded guilty to a single-count indictment alleging that he possessed a firearm at the time of the charge or felony.
Court documents show that Jay Da Youngan was stopped by Bogaloosa police officers on October 28, 2021, because his license plate was upside down. While he was unable to produce a driver’s license or vehicle registration card, police also found a loaded Ruger, Security-9, 9mm pistol and a small amount of marijuana under his leg.
Jay Da Youngan faced felony charges in Harris County, Texas, when police seized the gun. In December 2021, he reportedly faces up to five years in federal prison, plus three years of probation and a $250,000 fine.
Jay DaYoungan spent four days at Tangipahoa Community Prison after being arrested on September 26, 2021 for aiding and abetting second-degree murder and obstruction of justice, before posting $175,000 bail. The arrest was related to a horse-riding shooting in August 2020 that injured two people and killed one.
On August 20, 2021, he was stopped for reckless driving and opening the passenger door while accelerating. According to reports, he was driving a vehicle with a suspended license with a woman and a young child in it.
Just a few months ago, Jay DaYoungan was arrested in Coweta County, Georgia, on charges of marijuana possession with intent to distribute, drug possession and evidence tampering.
