Who Is Mike Heiser? Cause Of Death? Whats happened?: People who land on this page usually want to know one (or more) things: (1) Who is this person? (2) What do you want to achieve with the website and all accompanying podcasts, books, videos, etc.? (3) What do you believe – what drives you? I hope the following helps, because it’s important to me that people understand what I believe (and don’t believe) and what motivates me to do what I do. This is especially true when I do a lot of media interviews. Consider this page (and my FAQ) an authoritative source for who I am and what I think.

who I am?
I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (MA, Ancient History) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MA, PhD, Hebrew Biblical and Semitic Studies). I have more than a dozen years of college classroom teaching experience and another decade of distance learning experience. I am currently a resident scholar at Logos Bible Software, a company that produces ancient text databases and other digital resources for ancient and biblical studies. You can get more detailed answers about my academic background by reading my CV.
In a nutshell, my homepage, podcasts, other sites, and writing all aim to provide quality content for people who want specific things:
Serious academic content for understanding the Bible in its own context, unfiltered by creeds and traditions – but understandable to those who don’t live in an ivory tower. In other words, I think as a biblical scholar, my job is to make science accessible to interested laymen. You can think of me as a missionary for the church, exposing ordinary people on the pews to serious scholarship on the Bible and biblical theology. I believe this is an urgent need. Most churches today are more concerned with maintaining their denominational subculture or entertaining tourists than making them think.
