The Magpies, bought by a Saudi-led consortium in October, are one of the richest teams in world football. Still, they have only signed three players this summer. Matt Target signed on loan from Aston Villa last season, with Nick Pope and Sven Botman joining from Burnley and Lille respectively.
However, some supporters have dreams come true. Neymar is one of those big names, and there is already a strong Brazilian team at St James’ Park, such as Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes. Standing next to the 30-year-old, Tru asked Jody: “So you’re coming to Newcastle, aren’t you?” which made Neymar laugh.
Neymar, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona for a world-record €222m in 2017, has been the crown jewel of their star-studded side for years. However, that all seems to have changed. Kylian Mbappe shocked the world in May after agreeing to a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.
Mbappe was due to join Real Madrid on a free transfer but is now arguably the most powerful man at Parc des Princes after signing a €250m-a-year contract. Many reports say the world champion has influenced decision-making within the club.
Which brings us to Saturday night, when Mbappe missed Paris Saint-Germain’s first penalty in a 5-2 win over Montpellier. Neymar scored the second goal, but the disagreement reportedly caused tension in the dressing room. A report by @EsamB2Back claims that Mbappe and Neymar yelled and bumped into each other before being separated by teammates. Objects were also allegedly thrown.
